Why ROCKY-DEM option?

      Hello,

      I am currently working on a multiphase flow and would like to be sure what the differences are between using the DEM option that is handled by the Fluent software and the option to couple it with the ROCKY software.
      I understand that the DEM option of Fluent can also simulate collisions between particles and with the wall, so why use the ROCKY option?

      Ansys Rocky is providing more DEM capabilities beyound the ones available in Ansys Fluent espcially if you want to consider non-spherical shapes. 

      Some background of the case you want investigate will help us to better guide you.

      Thank you DrAmine, for your answer. My case is with spherical particles; I need to simulate the collisions between particle-particle and particle-wall.

      Since this is a spherical particle, should the use of ansys fluent be enough? Or do you consider a better tool to couple with rocky? Why?

      Ansys Fluent DEM will be enough. But if you are starting exploring DEM in general then I recommend Ansys Rocky.
