Will Ansys Polyflow help me in my work?

      Hi,

My situation is the following one. I am working in a research to apply finite element methodology in plastic made rigid packages' structural analysys. These packages are made by a thermoforming process where a plastic made film (thickness 0,2-1 mm) is heated and formed by a mold. In this process an irregular thickness distribution packages are obtained,  a deeper cavity lower thickness. Such a geometry is almost impossible to obtain with a common CAD software so nowadays I am making Static Structural analysis to packages whose thickness is regular (in reality it is not) and consequently the numerical results that I obtain are not suitable. My question is if ANSYS Polyflow is able to simulate a thermoforming process and generate a CAD 3D geometry whose thichness is irregular like a real thermofomed package??

Then, I would apply finite element static structural analysis made by ANSYS Workbench to that geometry. ANSYS Polyflow is not included in student free version so I would like to have some information before buying it.

      Thank you ANSYS Comunity.

If you're looking to buy software use the "Contact Us" button on ansys.com  and please use the "official" email address. If you're a student your supervisor will need to put the question in: we need to talk to a University/Institute employee because the licence will be attached to the Institute. This also means we can give a full answer as export checks can be done: this is a public forum which slightly limits us.

Maybe academic license ANSYS would have a software to make similar operations. Does it have?? I only want to know if ANSYS Polyflow or some NASYS software is able to create a CAD geometry from a thickness variation result. I know that Polyflow is able to predict the thickness of a viscoelastic material piece that is thermoformed or extruded, i would like to know if this resultant geometry could be exported to other cad program or be used in another analysis inside ANSYS.

If I obtain this thickness variation solid, is ist possible to obtain a CAD geometry of it and use it in for example in ANSYS Workbench. Thank you
