SubscriberHi,
I am trying to include a Winch that Changes Cable Length for simualting a winch pulling the line, but only the winch type "Maintains Constant Tension" is in the list:
I have read in Aqwa Users Manual (5.10.11.2) that it can only be used with Linear Elastic, and that's what I am using:
What could be the reason?
Regards

Ansys EmployeeHello,
It looks like you have added your Cable Winch to a stability analysis, where it can only act to maintain a constant cable tension. For a Cable Winch that changes the cable length, the Hydrodynamic Response Analysis Settings 'Computation Type' option needs to be set to 'Time Response Analysis'.
Generally, I would recommend that you run a stability analysis first (without the Cable Winch), and then link the Solution of this system to the Setup of a second Hydrodynamic Response system, which will be your time response analysis (including the Cable Winch). The stability analysis provides equilibrated initial conditions for the vessel, so avoiding any large forces/moments at the start of the time domain calculation.
I hope this helps!

you are right. I discovered it and now I am proceeding as you explain in your response.
Thank you!
