      Hi,

today I've tried running my free ANSYS Workbench application, but, unfortunately, encountered a fattal error.

      I attach screenshots

Is there any known solution to this?

I would be incredibly grateful for any help!

You get this error during launching Workbench ?

Do you have any .err file under (default) C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Student

I do not have any additional files in this directory other than the following:

Try this if you haven't already

Close all ANSYS applications, then open CMD Prompt and issue the following command

      move "%appdata%ansys" "%appdata%ansys.old"

If that doesn't work, please post the output of 'set' command without quote ( ' ' )

      Unfortunately it did not work.

The command created ansys.old folder, but the appluication does not work still.

I restarted my PC to make sure the changes were saved and then I've created this screenshot.

      The output is this:

Can you install ANSYS without including special characters in directory name ?

It seems you specified D:ANSYS####ANSYS Student####  during the install.

You can try D:ANSYS IncANSYS Student   instead.

Please uninstall the current one with D:ANSYS####ANSYS Student####v195uninstall.exe  (make sure to 'run as administrator') , then manually wipe the entire D:ANSYS afterwards. Then, reinstall the software.

      Hey,

I basically gave up on the R3 version and decided to download R2.

I followed your advice to give the directory folder a name without special characters and so far so good. It works! Unfortunately I do not know whether this is because of the R2 version or the change in folder name.

      Thank you very much,

      Marcin

      Hi Marcin,

That's good news. Thank you for the update.

If you like, you can try installing R3 again (they can co-exist with each other).

      Thanks,

      Win

      Hi Ansys,

I seem to be having the same issue and have been spending hours trying to fix this.

I was also considering downloading R2 version but can't seem to find the correct links so if you could get back to me I would be glad to go through the process with you.

      I have tried ever

On the download page for ANSYS Student, below the place where you click on the Download ... R3 button, near the bottom of the page is a Prior Releases link.

johnjas, yours is totally different and you have more than one issues. Please create a new thread for your own and post the content of install.err file.
