SubscriberDear Community,
I would like to run an ANSYS tutorial found on youtube. It was created in ANSYS release 17.2. However, I use the release 19.2. The author and I both run the "Academic Student Release".
When using the meshing module of Workbench and clicking on "mesh", the options under "sizing" are different. Missing are:
size function
relevance center
initial size seed
smoothing
and others.
Is there a way to activate these options ? I found Tools-options from the menu bar, but the missing options cannot be activated.
Access to these options would be extremely helpful to me as the author of the video changes the settings of these options.
Your kind assistance is greatly appreciated.
Regards

SubscriberDear Frank,
Here is a side-by-side comparison of some of the Details of mesh with 17.1 on the left and 19.2 on the right.
Size Function Adaptive in 17.1 is now Use Adaptive Sizing Yes in 19.2
Relevance Center Fine is now Resolution Default
Element Size Default that was under Sizing in 17.1 is now in the Defaults branch in 19.2
Initial Size Seed hasn't changed much.
When you change Size Function by pull down on Adaptive, you get the same options as when you change Use Adaptive Sizing to No.
Hope this helps.
Regards,

SubscriberHello
thank you for your kind effort. Your advice has helped me somehow, though not entirely. In the Video the author also sets "max tet size" and other Parameters that are simply not accessible to me. I will consult an in-house expert who will be back to work soon.

SubscriberHey Frank,
I was wondering if you resolved your issue? If so, maybe you can help me with this:
I am trying to use the cutcell method, found in the "assembly" branch. The problem is that the "element size" box in the default branch dissappears when you select that option and a value is chosen automatically. There is no "min size" box in sizing to change this value. I get error messages when using local inflation smaller than this automatically selected size.
For reference, this tutorial,
, does have the option to change the global size when using the CutCell method.
Do you happen to know how to restore these sizing control options?
Thanks very much in advance!

SubscriberHey Peter. I have same problems with Frank but your answer is not related with our problems actually. F?rstly in our mesh options we have different display style which includes element quality, aspect ratio etc. but there is no body color. I've watched a lot of videos in youtube and everyone has same options like you shared with us. But our options are totally different and we are missing a lot of options like Frank mentioned. CAn you help to figure this out asap.

I could not solve that problem, and we could avoid it in the end.
You might also ask on cfd-online.com
Good luck
