]]>I have problems in create a symmetry region in mechanical: i have to study a composite specimen that i have built in acp pre, when i move to mechanical's static strutural it doesn't show me the option of symmetry region but only pre-meshed cycling region. Is there something i can do to overcome this problem? Is it possible that with accademic licence is unavailable to put a symmetry region?

Another question: in mechanical's static structural the composite layers are visible only through the mesh (when i put the mesh the layers are well defined, otherwise they are not visible), can i view the layers outside the mesh visualization?

I am running ANSYS APDL restart analysis since I would like to change the element properties after every simulation step. But the problem is that the ANSYS APDL restart analysis is getting slower and slower. For example, the first 100 restart analyses took 10 minites, but after 500 restart analyses, it may took 1 hour for the next 100 restart analyses. Is there any solutions to solve this problem ? To keep the same computation speed as the restart analysis proceeds ?

Now I have the question of connecting Shell elements which is used for tower and the solid element which is being used for the foundation and the soil. How can i do this. Specially in ANSYS APDL.

I am trying to check the superelastic response of two solid structures connected with each other through other solid structures. I have the superelastic data and have used BONDED for the connection. I have fixed the bottom faces and applied displacement to the top faces. The experimental and the observed results are varying. I am not sure about the reason and will be very glad to get some help on this.

Following the recommendations of running a 2d analysis with a single element (PLANE182), with the bottom nodes constrained in all directions and the nodes at the top with the cyclic loading in the Y direction, I still get strange results, for instance even though the strain in y-direction has the highest value the stress in the x-direction is the highest with a value of 0.2339E6 MPa. I also observed that the damage Df is extremely high (71) while it should be between zero and one.

I am attaching the Fortran code and the input file for anyone to check if there is an error.

One silicon cylinder membrane clamped on edge and using trans126 I haver applied 400v (ramped). Static analysis works fine but in harmonic analysis I didn't get any plot.

Could anyone please help me?

]]>I faced with a problem. I work in the program version 2020R2. When exporting geometry from eigenvalue buckling to mechanical model (see the image below), an error occurs: Update failed for the Solution component in Eigenvalue Buckling. Error updating cell Solution in system Eigenvalue Buckling.

At the same time, this happens only after the end of the work in this file.

If you create a new file and work in it without closing it, then the program allows you to update the geometry and change it. Please tell me what this may be related to?

Also, the program does not show any errors in the Mechanical itself.

Hello all;

As shown in the image attached I have created a hammer on Ansys mechanical and using the following link as a guideance "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7JX8kTyPQw&ab_channel=CADtutorSYEDNADHEEM" to find total deformation, elactic strain and stress of the hammer.

However when I tried to simulate it the following error showed it shown in the image 'Solver pivot warning' and there is not enough constraints.

What might be causing this issue?

Any help would be appreciated cheers.

]]>I did a structural simulation and the solution is connected to another structural tree to export the deformed body into pmdb. Finally I opened in Geometry modeler and exported to x_t. But when I export, the parasolid file have only surfaces and lot of faces are missing as in the picture

Is there any solution for this? changing any setting will help?

]]>I have a structure which has to be displaced and will form frictionless contact with another structure in the first step.

Once the first structure is positioned, I have to apply a force at certain location in the first structure which will slightly deform first as well as second structure.

I have applied displacement in the first step and force in the second. But it doesn't seem any force is applied on the structure and no deformation is visible.

Anyone please help me to tackle this problem.

]]>I wanted to carry a transient structural analysis for a historic mosque using a 10-second scaled accelerogram. I transferred the model from Solidworks. I used SOLID187 as a finite element. For the same model, I also performed nonlinear static and modal analysis under gravitational loads. Although there was no problem in these two analyzes, I was able to calculate the stress and deformation values for the minaret only in the transient analysis. I was able to calculate very very small stress, strain values on the main body as if the main body was hardly ever affected by the acceleration. I could not evaluate as to what caused this situation. I should mention that the minaret is integrated with the main body and rises from inside the main body. Besides, in the model, the minaret was modeled as a separate solid body and the contact surface between the main body and minaret was defined as bonded contact.

I would be grateful for your help in this matter.

I applied the IC for HDSP in line 34, however after running the pressure I get is very small, I can't figure out why this is.

I have tried with the command D and that works but the pressure stays constant which is not what I want as I am applying external pressure to the object and HDSP should change.

The pressure I get for HDSP without IC is shown in the picture below.

What could be causing this ?

The parts are very big, but should also be able to calculate the stress normal to the surface so I choose SolidShell Elements.

the parts are bolted together, but I am not interested in the bolt connection so i made bonded contacts as you can see bellow:

As you can see bellow the middle plate step throug the outrer blade, allthoug i put on "true scale"

And I am not sure if there is an error in my modell or if this is just an graphical error.

]]>I have been working with ANSYS mechanical apdl for few months now and I'm modeling reinforced concrete beam with two predifined cracks. Beam length - 2,4 m, heigth - 0,244 m, width - 0,112 m. Reinforcement area - 3,2 cm². Beam has two supports, first constrained in y and x directions, second only in y direction. Beam loaded with two concentrated loads at 0,8 and 1,6 from beginning of the beam. (I attached beam scheme)

I chose 2D plane model and I'm using PLANE182 element type.

For concrete I chose cast iron material model, where I putted stress-strain relationship for compression and for tension. (attached stress-strain relationship diagrams)

For steel I chose multilinear isotropic hardening model. (attached diagram).

I modeled cracks by deleting specific number of elements (attached picture, crack heigth I get from analytical calculation).

For analysis options I chose small displacement static, 20 substeps with aytomatic time stepping, convergence criteria by default.

When I run nonlinear diagnostics, my calulation doesn't converge and I get problem in concrete tension zone, between cracks (attached Newton-Raphson resudual force diagram). in elements events, status of failure criteria in elements, it shows numbers in plastic strain.

What can I do to remove plastic strain limits or anything elso to help to converge solution? Thanks in advance.
